Description
We are seeking an experienced Switchboard Electrical Engineer to join our growing Core Switchboards team in New Lynn, Auckland. You will lead and deliver high-quality LV switchboard designs, support project delivery from concept to commissioning, and ensure all systems meet technical, safety, and client requirements. This role suits a detail-oriented engineer with strong design capability and idealy some experience in switchgear or switchboard manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
- Lead and produce designs for primary electrical systems, and mechanical services.
- Produce single line diagrams, GA layouts, detailed wiring diagrams, and load schedules.
- Select and specify appropriate electrical equipment to meet technical and client requirements.
Testing, Monitoring & Commissioning
- Assist with troubleshooting, FAT testing, inspections, and issue resolution during manufacturing and installation phases.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance to production teams and respond to design queries throughout the manufacturing process.
- Maintain documentation and support continuous improvement across design and engineering activities.
About You:
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, with some experience in switchgear or switchboard manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of LV power systems, distribution design, and protective device selection.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills with a detail-focused, reliable work ethic.
- Valid NZ driver’s licence.
- You must hold NZ residency or a valid open NZ work visa.
