Purpose of the Role The purpose of the Asset Analyst and Developer role is to provide comprehensive data analytics, systems development, and asset information support to the Asset Intelligence Team and the wider Network business. The role focuses on improving data quality, reliability, and accessibility through system integration, automation, and effective data lifecycle management, while developing tools and applications that support asset planning, network operations, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance data systems, tools, and applications that support asset management, network planning, and operational decision-making.
- Manage and improve asset data quality, integrity, and accessibility across core systems including GIS, AMS (Ellipse), CAD, and reporting platforms.
- Design and maintain data architectures, integrations, and automated data flows to support reliable end-to-end asset information management.
- Provide analytical insights, dashboards, and reporting to support planning, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
- Support regulatory reporting, Asset Management Plans, and ISO 55001 asset management compliance activities.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, contractors, and service providers to ensure accurate, timely, and fit-for-purpose asset information.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data, system, and information issues, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote safe work practices and actively support Horizon Networks' health, safety, and wellbeing culture.
Qualifications & Experience Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Minimum 2 years' experience in data management, data architecture, or systems development Programming experience (Python and SQL preferred)
- Experience with GIS platforms (e.g. ArcGIS or G/Technology)
- Understanding of ETL tools such as FME
- Current unrestricted New Zealand driver licence Desirable:
- Knowledge of electricity distribution networks and asset management principles
- Experience with PowerBI, geospatial analysis, and automation tools
- Familiarity with ISO 55001 or regulated utility environments.
