About the role
We're looking for a specialised engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll develop and review protection settings for new zone substations, support the integration of large DER, enable reverse power flow, battery and solar connections across WEL's network. You'll also play a key role in commissioning complex protection schemes on our highly meshed subtransmission network.
To succeed, you'll be a proactive, self-motivated professional with strong communication, organisational and negotiation skills and have a proven ability to collaborate effectively across the business.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- BEng or tertiary level qualification in electrical engineering
- Minimum of two years' direct experience in the field of protection systems, designing architectures, settings, documentation and lifecycle management
- Power system protection qualification such as the PSP course or equivalent is desirable
- Strong field engineering experience, such as the commissioning of HV protection systems
- IEC 61850 experience is a plus as we move to digital substations
