About the Role:

Northpower is looking for a motivated Trainee Electrical Fitter to join our team and start a career working with critical electrical infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you'll learn on the job, gain valuable experience, and build strong technical skills while working alongside experienced tradespeople.

You'll carry out prescribed electrical work under supervision and support the team with fault finding installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of substations and electrical assets. This role suits someone who enjoys practical work, problem-solving, and taking pride in doing the job right.

Role Responsibilities:

In this role, you'll:

  • Carry out prescribed electrical work under supervision in line with regulations
  • Assist with fault finding, installation, testing, maintenance, and repairs of electrical and substation assets
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required reporting
  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks assigned to you
  • Work toward meeting and exceeding Northpower, customer, and regulatory requirements
  • Help achieve team performance targets and goals
  • Identify potential issues and contribute practical solutions when things don't go to plan
  • Communicate openly and work collaboratively within the team
  • Contribute to team productivity and utilisation
  • Represent Northpower professionally and deliver positive customer experiences

About You:

You're someone who wants to learn, takes safety seriously, and enjoys hands-on technical work.

You'll ideally bring:

  • An interest or experience with network distribution equipment (advantageous but not essential)
  • A strong safety-first mindset
  • A positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team
  • Logical thinking and good diagnostic skills
  • An aptitude for mechanics and electronics
  • The ability to work independently when required, and as part of a team
  • Physical capability to handle the demands of the role
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
