An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Advisor to support Enviro NZ’s South Island operations. You will provide technical support and advice on environmental matters to Enviro NZ’s collections teams, transfer stations, waste treatment sites in the South Island.
The role includes:
- Working in a close, friendly team environment;
- Providing environmental advice and support to site managers and operations managers;
- Auditing sites throughout NZ for compliance with the company’s ISO 14001 environmental management system and site-specific resource consents;
- Reviewing environmental incidents and conducting incident investigations using the iTrak incident reporting system;
- Training of site managers and operations staff on environmental awareness, monitoring, and reportin,g and site-specific environmental matters;

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:
- Degree in physical/biological sciences (e.g. chemistry, biology, geology)
- 4 years’ experience in an environmental role
- Experience in auditing for compliance with resource consents and environmental management systems
- Knowledge of both liquid and solid waste industries from collection, treatment and disposal
- Knowledge of contaminants, chemical processes, air pollution criteria, monitoring, waste related legislation, resource consents and regulations
- MS Office skills to an advanced level preferred
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Be personable, professional and skilled at relationship building
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Pre-Employment Health Assessment (including drugs test) and complete a Ministry of Justice criminal records check, the results of which must be to Enviro NZ’s satisfaction.
