CNC Laser Operator – Sheet Metal Fabrication

STR Fabrication is a busy and growing sheet metal engineering company specialising in laser cutting, CNC folding, and custom fabrication. Due to continued workload, we are looking for an experienced Laser Operator to join our Christchurch workshop.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced fabrication environment and takes pride in producing quality work.

The Role

You will be responsible for operating CNC laser cutting equipment and supporting workshop production to ensure jobs are completed safely, accurately, and on time.

Your duties will include:

*Operating CNC laser cutting machinery *Loading and unloading sheet material *Reading and interpreting engineering drawings *Selecting correct materials and checking job requirements *Inspecting parts to maintain quality standards *Sorting and preparing components for fabrication/folding *Routine machine maintenance and workshop housekeeping *Assisting the production team where required

The ideal applicant will have:

*Previous experience operating CNC laser equipment in a manufacturing or sheet metal environment *Experience working from engineering drawings and some knowledge of CAD *Good attention to detail and quality control *A positive attitude and strong work ethic *The ability to work independently and as part of a team *Forklift experience (an advantage but not essential)

Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who: *Are currently based in New Zealand *Have NZ fabrication/manufacturing experience *Are available for an immediate start *Already have the legal right to work in New Zealand
