General Engineer

General Engineer – Join Our Team We are seeking a skilled and motivated General Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on role offering a mix of workshop-based and onsite work, with opportunities to grow your skills and take on greater responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and installation work in the workshop and onsite
• Perform mechanical fitting and assembly
• Operate manual machining equipment (lathe and milling machines)
• Undertake basic welding (MIG, ARC, TIG) on mild steel and stainless steel
• Assist with light fabrication work

About You You will have a solid mechanical trade background and be confident working both independently and as part of a team. You bring practical problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude to your work. You will also:

• Be a competent machinist
• Have experience working with heavy machinery or industrial equipment
• Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Maintain a strong commitment to health and safety standards
• Have strong fault-finding abilities
• Be practical, solutions-focused, and reliable
• Be self-motivated and capable of working unsupervised
• Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship
• Be comfortable working in both workshop and onsite environments.
• Be willing and able to work away from home for periods of time as required
• Be physically fit and able to carry out the manual aspects of the role, including lifting and working with heavy equipment
• Perform well under pressure and adapt to new challenges
• Be willing to learn and develop your skills further
• Hold a full drivers’ licence
• Have fluent English communication skills
• Must be a New Zealand permanent resident or citizen (due to the level of training required for this role)
