Description
Pukepine Sawmill is a family owned business and a leading NZ manufacturer of quality solid and finger jointed timber products. Our operation comprises of green and dry mills, several kilns for drying, and a timber treatment plant. Part of the operation is Purepine Mouldings, our secondary processing plant that produces interior and exterior finished timber products for the domestic and export markets.
Pukepine Sawmill and Purepine Mouldings currently have a Fitter-Turner position available at their Te Puke site. You will work within a team comprising of ten other Engineers and apprentices, although you will also be expected to liaise with the rest of the maintenance team.
Days of work are typically Monday-Friday. Hours of work will be rotating early and late starts between 5am till 5.30pm approximately, with a rotating night shift and rotating on call weekends. This position is typically 45-55 hours per week.
Remuneration is $32 - $35 per hour (depending on skill and experience). Additional allowances include night shift, on call, overtime, phone and production allowances.
The ideal applicant will:
- Be a qualified fitter turner/ fitter welder
- Have at least 3 years experience
- Be quality focused without compromising on time
- Be excellent at multi-tasking and working under pressure
- Have initiative, be self-motivated, and be able to work unsupervised
- Be a practical/logical thinker with problem solving abilities
- Work well in a team
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- General engineering maintenance
- Undertake upgrades and improvements
- Work on company projects
- Adhere to health and safety regulations
Applicants should have a valid, full NZ driver license, and at least two contactable referees.
