Description
Position Overview: A key role within the permanent Maintenance Team at Pure Turoa, the Lift Mechanic will perform scheduled and reactive maintenance, repairs, and inspections of ski lifts and other ski area plant and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Providing technical expertise and collaborating with the Maintenance team to optimise lift operations.
This role requires a strong, practical, technical background in engineering, and the ability to apply that expertise to lift systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
Work Experience and Qualifications:
- Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, particularly when diagnosing complex mechanical issues.
- Engineering or Mechanical NZ Trade Certificate (or equivalent) with a broad understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with complex machinery systems, such as marine vessels, heavy machinery, or ski lift systems, with the ability to transfer skills to lift mechanics.
- Previous hands-on experience in ski lift operations, ideally including maintenance or repair of lift systems and associated equipment.
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, as well as familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics, and apply technical knowledge to solve complex engineering issues.
- Experienced in a dynamic and high pressure environment.

- Punctual and reliable, with a flexible approach to work schedules (including weekend and holiday work, and night shifts as required during peak ski season).
- A strong commitment to operational excellence and safe working practices.
- The ability to ski or ride to an intermediate level (blue run) + level is preferable.
