We are seeking a professional and reliable Maintenance Engineers to join our Engineering team in our Wellington Yard and focus on the repairs and maintenance of our machinery, plant and equipment.
This is a varied role, and the successful applicant will be required to demonstrate proven skills and experience in either the maintenance and repair of heavy diesel plant and equipment and the fabrication, machining and welding of parts and structures.
Macaulay Metals is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated scrap metal recycling company and we’ve been in operation for over 60 years! We purchase both steel and non-ferrous metals, process them and sell them for further recycling. We are working hard to recycle metal.
This is a full time position with the hours of work being Monday to Friday 7:00am to 4:30pm, and Saturday shifts as rostered. We offer a vibrant working environment and free training and upskilling.
The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:
- At least seven years’ experience in either the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery like forklifts and excavators or with fabricating and welding of machinery and parts and holding a trade qualification in their field of expertise OR
- At least ten years’ experience in either the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery like forklifts and excavators or with fabricating and welding of machinery and parts
- Can perform varied tasks associated with a Maintenance Engineer position and have a strong willingness and ability to help out and problem solve!
- Experience with hydraulic fitting and repairs.
- Ability to work on own, honest, and reliable.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail with ability to problem solve quickly.
- Willing and ability to learn new skills.
- Strong focus in Workplace Health and Safety Processes.
- Clean criminal record and ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Clean and current driver’s license. F endorsement an advantage.
- Team player with a positive attitude to getting a job done and working with colleagues.
- Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand. i.e., be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident.
