Mechanical Fitter ( Welder & Fabricator )

Step into a high-impact role with a Tier 1 civil leader delivering major infrastructure projects in stunning Tauranga.We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter with strong welding and fabrication skills, including pipe welding, to join a major infrastructure project in Tauranga. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile project delivering critical works within a well-established and reputable organisation.

This role will suit someone who is hands-on, safety-focused, and confident working across mechanical installation, maintenance, and fabrication within an industrial or construction environment. Key Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical fitting, installation, and maintenance of plant and equipment
• Perform fabrication and welding tasks to a high standard
• Conduct pipe welding (carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials as required)
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications
• Assemble, install, and align mechanical components and pipework systems
• Perform repairs, shutdown work, and upgrades on site
• Ensure all work complies with quality, safety, and environmental standards
• Work collaboratively with site teams to meet project deadlines

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter / Welder / Fabricator
• Strong experience in pipe welding (TIG/MIG/Stick preferred)
• Ability to work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials
• Experience in industrial, infrastructure, or heavy engineering environments
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and isometrics
• Strong understanding of health & safety practices
• Relevant trade qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Site experience on large-scale projects (must)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must Hold NZ Residency or Citizenship
• Welding Tickets and/or Engineering Level 4
• Must be able to pass a drug test
• Minimum x 2 References related skill set required
• Advantageous Start in APRIL 2026
• Own car and drivers
