Description

Hydraulics Hawkes Bay is a family owned and run business based in Napier. We specialise in the repair, service, and manufacture of a wide range of hydraulic machinery and equipment. Due to an expanding workload, we are seeking a skilled Fitter / Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about machinery repair and thrive in a hands-on, varied environment, we want to hear from you!

Role Overview: In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including in-house and on-site repairs and manufacturing. Your work will cover a diverse range of machinery including pumps, motors, cylinders, cranes, excavators, forestry and earthmoving equipment, fishing vessels, trucks and even factory production lines. Your day-to-day will be fast-paced and challenging, but rewarding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform machinery repairs and manufacture hydraulic components, including pumps, motors, cylinders and hoses
  • Work on-site and in the workshop, including installations and maintenance
  • Provide high-quality service for cranes, excavators, trucks and other equipment
  • Use a wide range of repair tools and possibly welding and machining
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to health & safety protocols

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and previous experience in machinery repair or fitting
  • Practical, hands-on experience in mechanical fields
  • Prior experience in workshop and field service work
  • Experience with hydraulic equipment (advantageous)
  • Welding and machining experience (beneficial)
  • A desire to learn new skills on the job
  • Self-driven, organised and reliable
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong time management skills with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • Commitment to modern health & safety practices
