About us Wine Country Sheet Metal & Engineering is a locally owned engineering and manufacturing business based in Hastings. With a steady pipeline of work, we’re looking for an experienced fabricator to join the crew.

The role This role has great hours working Monday to Friday, reporting to the Workshop Manager, you’ll be involved in a wide range of fabrication work, primarily stainless steel, with mild steel experience highly valued. You’ll work both in the workshop and on-site as required, delivering projects to spec and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Fabricating and assembling stainless steel components to drawings and specifications
• TIG welding stainless steel (high standard of finish expected)
• Mild steel fabrication and welding (MIG/arc) — preferred
• Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings
• Ensuring finished work meets quality standards and customer expectations
• Managing your time well to meet deadlines while maintaining safety and quality
• Working with customers and other trades professionally when on-site
• Supervising, supporting and mentoring others in the workshop when required

What we’re looking for You’re a practical, capable fabricator who takes pride in tidy, accurate work and enjoys being part of a solid team.

Ideally you’ll have:

• Proven experience as a stainless steel fabricator / sheet metal engineer
• Strong TIG skills on stainless steel
• Mild steel fabrication experience (highly desirable)
• Confidence reading and working from fabrication drawings
• Great attention to detail and a quality-first mindset
• A reliable, positive attitude and good communication
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A commitment to safe work practices
