Description
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Operations & Sales Manager to join our leadership team. This role will suit either an experienced Sales professional or a Senior Operator/Rigger/Site Supervisor who is ready use their technical knowledge to help run and grow the business. About the Role This is a hands-on, varied role that combines operations coordination with sales and client management. You won’t just be sitting behind a desk – you’ll be out on site, talking with clients, and making sure the right gear, people,equipment, cranes and planning are in place. Key responsibilities include: Operations & Planning
- Conducting site inspections to determine access, lift radius, ground conditions, and crane size required
- Assisting with daily scheduling of cranes, trucks, crews, and equipment dispatch
- Working closely with operations to ensure seamless project delivery
- Supporting H&S and site compliance requirements as needed Sales, Quoting & Client Relations
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships across key sectors
- Identifying new business opportunities and expanding our customer base
- Preparing and managing quotes, tenders, and pricing using sound industry knowledge
- Being a “go-to” person for customers when they need technical advice or crane selection support
- Representing A & K Cranes in a professional, solutions-focused manner at all times About You We’re open to two main backgrounds – and you might sit somewhere in the middle: Option 1 – Industry Professional Stepping Off the Tools
- Background as an experienced Crane Operator, Dogman/Rigger, Dispatcher, or Site Supervisor
- Strong understanding of load charts, site safety, and how jobs really run
- Comfortable talking to site foremen, project managers, and clients on technical requirements
- Keen to move into a Supervisor/Management path while staying in the industry you enjoy Option 2 – Sales / Business Development Background
- Experience in sales, business development, or account management (ideally in construction, civil, or heavy transport)
- Proven ability to build relationships, negotiate rates, and win work
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a proactive, self-driven approach For all applicants, you will:
- Be confident asking for the work, following up quotes, and closing opportunities
- Have good communication skills – both written and verbal
- Have at least basic computer skills (email, Excel, quoting systems – training can be provided)
- Be committed to safety, teamwork, and customer service
- Hold a full driver’s license (heavy vehicle and industry tickets an advantage but not essential for all candidates) Why Make the Move?
