Description
Key Responsibilities Lead the day-to-day operations of the Union and Union Office
- Prepare and manage the annual business plan, budgets, and financial performance
- Secure and manage sponsorship, gaming, grants, and community funding
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clubs, NZ Rugby, Chiefs Franchise, sponsors, and stakeholders
- Oversee club rugby competitions and compliance requirements
- Lead representative rugby programmes (Heartland, Development, age-grade)
- Manage staff performance, development, and appraisals
- Act as a public spokesperson alongside the Chairman
- Provide governance support: board papers, meetings, AGM, reporting
- Represent King Country Rugby at NZRU and Chiefs forums
What We’re Looking For
- Proven ability to own the role and be accountable
- Strong business, financial, and organisational skills
- Comfortable managing people, priorities, and pressure
- Confident communicator – written, verbal, boardroom, and grassroots
- Able to work with volunteers, clubs, and professional stakeholders
- Sound judgment, resilience, and the ability to challenge constructively
- Rugby or sport administration experience is a strong advantage
