Mo te tunga | About the role

We are looking for a permanent, Full-time Property Officer to join our property team at Rimutaka Men's Prison in Upper Hutt. This role will be reporting to the Receptions/Movements Manager and you will be an integral part of a small but dedicated team that provides support in our Receiving Office.

We currently house over 1200 tane in our care and you will be joining a busy team that manages the personal property of the tane as they arrive into and depart from our prison site.

Property Officers are primarily responsible for overseeing the accurate collation, collection and recording of all property received or sent out. Computer literacy and good attention to detail is paramount in this role as you will be entering a lot of data into the Departments computer database!

Please note, the attached job description (JD) for this position has the general working title `Administration Support Officer'. This JD covers a variety of administrative positions across Corrections including Property Officers, and you may be required to undertake some or all of the duties noted according to operational requirements. This can be varied within the overall Administration Support structure.

The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent work ethic including strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Word/Excel and Outlook, with excellent written and verbal language skills
  • Good physical health as heavy lifting is required
  • Great face-to-face people skills i.e. your ability to interact confidently and professionally with people from a diverse range of cultures is essential
  • Understanding of our work environment and the safety protocols required
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly, follow instructions and having the courage to ask relevant questions
  • Team, solution and compliance focused
  • Ability to process data quickly with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

The salary range for this role is $64,717 - $68,434 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.

This position is Monday to Friday, 40hrs per week, based at Rimutaka Prison.
