Mo te tunga | About the role

We need reliable people to provide safe, secure supervision of prisoners receiving medical care in hospital. This casual role is "as needed" and can be at short notice, day or night, with shifts being up to 12 hours at a time.

You'll work alongside a Corrections Officer to ensure the safety of the prisoner, hospital staff, and the public. Your role helps us maintain community safety while we manage operations back at the prison.

You'll need to complete a criminal history check and a pre-employment drug test. Full training and induction are provided.

We're looking for people with experience in Police, Defence, Corrections, Security, or similar fields.

You will also bring:

  • Clear, confident communication
  • A calm, steady approach under pressure
  • Strong adherence to policies and procedures
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A fair, respectful, and non‑judgemental attitude toward prisoners
  • A full NZ driver licence
  • The right to work in NZ for at least the next 24 months

This is a casual role, so you need to be available at short notice. Some travel may be required, with costs covered according to policy.

The hourly rate for this position is $33.66 per hour.
