We are currently seeking reliable and responsive Casual Support Workers to support our Rangiora-based Intensive Support Services. This role is ideal for individuals who are flexible and available at short notice to cover staff sick leave and unplanned absences, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts across our Canterbury services. The successful applicant will be expected to be mobile between Rangiora and Spreydon as service needs evolve.
You will be part of a supportive team creating safe and positive environments where rangatahi and tamariki can build confidence, develop life skills, and connect with their communities.
About the Role | He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko As a Casual Support Worker, you will support rangatahi and tamariki accessing our Intensive Support Services to live as independently as possible.
You will:
- Step in at short notice to provide cover for sick leave and unplanned shifts
- Work as part of a team to ensure consistency and quality of support
- Support young people to attend school and access education
- Promote overall health, wellbeing, and safety
- Assist rangatahi to set and achieve personal goals
- Encourage social interaction and participation in the community

Who We’re Looking For | Ko wai tā mātou e rapu ana We are looking for people who are:
- Flexible, dependable, and able to respond quickly to shifts when needed
- Interested in picking up shifts across Rangiora and wider Canterbury services
- Passionate about supporting rangatahi to achieve positive outcomes
- Experienced, or confident, working with young people
- Understanding of, or willing to learn, Trauma-Informed approaches
- Understanding of, or willing to learn, Positive Behaviour Support strategies and principles
- Resilient and confident working alongside complex behaviours
- Knowledgeable about Intellectual Disability and/or Autism (preferred)
- Creative, proactive, and strong team players
- Holders of a full NZ driver’s licence
- Culturally aware, respectful, and empathetic
