Community support for Tetraplegic and his dog
Listing Description
Description
I'm looking to add one or two to my team of carers who support me, an early 40's Male Tetraplegic living in his own home in Hataitai, Wellington. I have a 4 year old beautiful big Doberman named Sadie. She's high energy but maturing quickly so experience with dogs is paramount. The position is open to all, with different levels of experience and backgrounds, who can bring a positive outlook, good nature, an open mind and a genuine desire to help me live independently and support me in my lifestyle, my hobbies, help me raise a well behaved doggo, and upkeep of my home. If you have a crafty/creative streak I want to hear from you!
I like to build, engineer, create, and "make" as well as get comfortable and relax in privacy. So I'm looking for all-rounder individuals who get a kick out of life and understand that it's to be enjoyed not simply endured.
The shifts available are primarily overnight sleepovers, starting around 6.30 pm and finishing at 10.30 am. There are also some daytime shifts, or evenings or mornings. Flexibility in the schedule or set hours are all possible. The range of tasks are mostly in personal care, showering, bathroom assistance and assisting me to engage in the community and with friends and family. Cooking and cleaning are important as I take pride in my home and being able to enjoy a good meal whilst knowing the dishes will be done. So a proactive carer with initiative around the home is what I'm looking for.
The pay rate is split between day and night hours.
Attributes I'm looking for: Outgoing and enthusiastic. Experience with dog obedience. Ability to learn routines. Commonsense and initiative. Young at heart, outlook, non-judgmental. A sense of humour.
No experience necessary, training provided.
If it sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you. Please use the application options below, thanks for reading this far down :)
