About the Role

We currently have full-time and part-time opportunities across our adult allied health teams within the Physiotherapy Outpatients and Community Allied Health services at Health New Zealand Waitemata.

As an Allied Health/Therapy Assistant, you will support adult patients throughout their rehabilitation journey by providing therapy assistance, motivation, and a range of prescribed activities.

  • A full-time position is available within our Outpatient Physiotherapy service and will be split across our North Shore and West Outpatient teams. We also welcome part-time applicants interested in a job-share arrangement.
  • A part-time position is available within our West Community Allied Health team.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our allied health teams are based on the North Shore and in West Auckland. They support adult patients with a wide range of rehabilitation needs following events such as stroke, fractures, amputation, and illness-related deconditioning.

You may work in:

  • Outpatient Physiotherapy Service

You will work under the guidance of a Physiotherapist, supporting patients with their rehabilitation programmes. You will work with a wide range of clinical presentations including post-operative care, falls prevention, deconditioning, oncology-related needs, and neurological conditions.

Tasks may involve:

group-based sessions

1:1 therapy assistant sessions

supervised gym programmes

hydrotherapy classes

assisting with equipment provision

  • Community Allied Health Team

You will work alongside an interdisciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, dietitians, social workers and Speech-Language Therapists. You will deliver patient-centred rehabilitation programmes in patients homes or therapy gyms.

Tasks may involve:

supporting daily functional activities

strength and balance programmes

communication-focused activities

assisting with ordering, provision, setup and education on use of equipment

-maintaining accurate oversight of consignment (equipment) stock

About You

We are looking for dedicated, honest, hard-working, and reliable individuals with strong time-management skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.

Our teams operate Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 4:30pm. We welcome applicants available for full 8-hour days as well as those looking for reduced or school-friendly hours.

To be successful as an Allied Health/Therapy Assistant, you will have:

  • Previous health-related experience, preferably in rehabilitation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working effectively in a team
  • A valid NZ Drivers Licence
