About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Speech Language Therapist (SLT) with a passion for supporting children and their families within their home and community environments. The Child Development Service is a collegial, multi-disciplinary team providing paediatric assessment and therapy across Hawke's Bay for children aged 016 years living with disability.

In this role, you will work primarily with children under 6 years of age who have delayed language development. This role will focus on providing language intervention for children who have access to our service as they have a disability or neuro-behavioural diagnosis. You will work alongside other clinicians in CDS such as Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychology and Speech Language therapists to support both the diagnosis of developmental delay and provide intervention to support language development.

This is a part time position (0.6 FTE) and is suitable for a person with up to 6 years of experience.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The child Development Service/ Te Kunenga Mai Rongokako, provides assessment/ intervention and support to children at risk of, or, who have a known developmental delay or disability. We are based in a purpose-built childrens hub in Hastings. We work where ever the child is across the whole of Hawkes Bay. We also have clinical spaces on site if needed and work closely with the Paediatricians who are also on site.

About youWere looking for someone with strong foundational SLT skills, a genuine interest in paediatrics, and a collaborative approach to practice. You will be committed to family-centred care and enjoy working as part of a supportive team.

Key attributes and skills include: NZ Registered Speech-Language Therapist with current NZSTA registration Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong clinical reasoning abilities to support assessment and diagnostic decision-making for language disorders Full NZ drivers licence and ability to travel for community-based work NZ residency/citizenship or appropriate work visa Previous paediatric and/or disability-related SLT experience is preferred but not essential we have experienced SLTs who can support your transition into paediatric practice
