Description

As a Youth Support Worker, you’ll work alongside rangatahi with high and complex needs, supporting them to build routine, connection, and a life that feels worth showing up for.

Our Taranaki region is growing, and in 2026 we’re expanding the support we offer rangatahi and whānau. That growth means we’re looking for more grounded, values-led people to join our team, people who understand the importance of connection, culture, and consistency in this mahi.

We know the strength of our team comes from the different backgrounds and experiences people bring. We welcome applicants who can bring their own cultural understanding into the work, including those from Māori, Pasifika, and Asian communities

Most job ads start with what the company needs from you. MindFull Support is an upside-down company.

Our kaupapa is about what we can offer YOU, because when you’re supported, trusted, and valued, you’re better able to do meaningful, mana-enhancing mahi with rangatahi.

So let us tell you what our mahi can offer:

  • Work life balance! We often work 48hr – 72hr blocks, so you’ll have 4–5 days off per week to enjoy life outside of mahi (regular hours may include 1 weekend shift every 2 weeks)
  • Opportunities to travel across the North Island for mahi
  • Ongoing learning and development
  • The office team is here to support you in your role
  • Meaningful mahi supporting tāngata whaiora with mental health concerns or intellectual disability
  • Be part of a strong, supportive team that looks out for each other and the people we support
  • A workplace where your voice matters and your perspective is valued
  • Regular clinical and cultural supervision, with space to debrief when needed
  • The chance to grow your practice and not be “just” a support worker
  • Work alongside genuine people who care about doing the mahi well

If all of this sounds like you, then fill in our application form below... it’s about time we had a kōrero.

Must have:

  • Full driver's license
  • Level 4 or above Qualification in a health or youth related field
  • Experience in healthcare/community sector working with rangatahi/youth
  • You must have your own reliable vehicle - Current warrant and registration

People who pass our interview process:

  • You are comfortable and experienced working in high-risk environments
  • You can think on your feet and adapt as situations change
  • You bring energy and are happy to be active in your mahi
  • You hold strong, consistent professional boundaries
  • You communicate well and build respectful relationships
  • You enjoy working alongside others — both your team and whaiora
  • You understand mana-enhancing approaches to support
  • You have experience working with rangatahi and/or complex needs
  • You are trauma-informed and understand approaches like de-escalation and active listening
  • You are able to work in a way that respects the identity, culture, and background of the person you are supporting
  • You are confident navigating crisis situations
  • You are flexible, can follow a plan, and adjust when needed
  • You are self-aware, reflective, and open to learning
  • You are looking for work-life balance and are open to flexible/casual contracts

We value people who can bring their own lived experience, cultural understanding, and way of connecting into the mahi — this helps us better support the diverse rangatahi and whānau we work alongside.
