We are seeking a dedicated Health Promotion Coordinator to join our team for an initial six month fixed-term period from June to December 2026, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There is potential for this role to be extended.
About Us: Ngati Ruanui Tahua Limited is a kaupapa Maori whanau ora service provider based in South Taranaki. We offer a holistic approach to healthcare and community wellbeing, through services including primary care, whanau ora, social and education services, kohanga reo and community outreach.
This role is part of our ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes and access for Maori and Pacific communities.
About the Role: As the Health Promotion Coordinator, you’ll lead the delivery of impactful health promotion initiatives with a strong focus on the BreastScreen Aotearoa (BSA) programme and supporting immunisation initiatives. This includes planning, coordinating and delivering culturally responsive outreach and education within the South Taranaki community.
This role also has a health coach lens, empowering whanau to engage in early screening and preventative care through accessible, respectful and meaningful engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and administer BSA outreach services in alignment with Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Deliver BSA engagement events within the period, targeting Maori and Pacific wahine.
- Health awareness campaigns across schools, marae and community settings.
- Maintain accurate records and submit timely progress reports.
- Apply a strong equity focus, embedding tikanga Maori in the mahi.
- Build effective relationships with local providers, GPs, Kura kaupapa, Iwi, and NGOs.
About You: To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in public health, health promotion or a related community outreach role.
- A strong commitment to Maori health equity and whanau-centred practice.
- Cultural competency and confidence engaging with Maori and Pacific communities.
- Strong facilitation, coordination and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite. Lived or professional experience working with Maori or Pacific communities will be highly valued.
