Description

We are looking for experienced Youth Support Workers to tautoko a rangatahi with high and complex needs.

This is not a standard support role. You will be working with a rangatahi who requires:

48-hour shifts Constant supervision (eyes on at all times) A worker who can stay mentally present and engaged Someone who is always thinking ahead, planning, adapting, and responding early Can hold firm, consistent boundaries set by the team and Clinical Lead — even when challenged

This rangatahi can have a ~15-minute bounce rate, so your ability to stay focused, redirect, and maintain structure is critical.

You’ll be working alongside a wider team who stay connected, share responsibility, and back each other.

Most job ads start with what the company needs from you. At MindFull Support, we also recognise that when you’re well supported, you’re better able to do good mahi.

So let us tell you what our mahi can offer:

  • Work life balance! Typically, 48-hour blocks, so you will have 5 days off per week
  • Opportunities to travel across the North Island for mahi
  • Ongoing learning opportunities
  • The office team is here to support you in your role
  • Meaningful mahi supporting tangata whaiora with mental health and/or intellectual disability
  • Be part of a strong, supportive team that cares about our tāngata whaiora
  • You’ll be part of a service that values your judgement, your voice, and how you show up in the mahi
  • Regular clinical and cultural supervision, support, and space to debrief
  • Work with a grounded, genuine team focused on doing the mahi well

If all of this sounds like you, then fill in our application form below... it’s about time we had a kōrero.

Must have:

  • Full driver's license
  • Level 4 or above Qualification in a health or youth related field
  • Experience in healthcare/community sector working with rangatahi/youth
  • You must have your own reliable vehicle - Current warrant and registration

People who pass our interview process: You are comfortable working in high-risk, high-needs environments You can maintain strong, consistent boundaries at all times You have a high attention span and can stay focused for long periods You are able to stay calm under pressure and respond quickly You can think ahead and plan multiple steps in advance You are confident supporting people with mental health and complex behaviours You understand trauma-informed practice and de-escalation approaches You are able to work in a way that respects the identity, whānau, and context of the rangatahi You communicate clearly and work well within a team You are reflective, self-aware, and open to learning
