About the role
Whitireia and WelTec are seeking a Tutor to join the Bachelor of Social Work Programme team.
The position is based at the Porirua campus and provides the successful applicant with an opportunity to be part of a committed team preparing ākonga to practise professionally according to the values and ethics of the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) and the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW). On completion of the programme, ākonga will be eligible to apply for SWRB registration.
The successful applicant will have the ability and experience to prepare ākonga to work in the fields of family violence, care and protection, policy, support work, wellbeing and community development.
We are seeking a social work educator with teaching experience at degree level. The position is based in Porirua.
Key requirements
- A qualification at least one level higher than the programme being taught.
- Current registration with, or eligibility to register with, SWRB.
- Teaching experience in social work, or in a relevant field at tertiary level.
- Proven ability to work with ākonga and kaimahi from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.
- Current knowledge of different practice skills and approaches, including Māori and Pacific frameworks, social work research and policy, SWRB competencies, ANZASW Code of Ethics, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi practice.
- Practice experience as a social worker and educator, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to contribute to the teaching and development of the programme.
- An adult teaching qualification is preferred.
- Working knowledge of education ICT systems (Moodle, Artena, APlus+) or similar, or the ability to quickly adapt to these systems.
