About the Roles

We currently have opportunities for Consultant Psychiatrists to join our team in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

We are excited to offer:

  • A well-established group of peers for you to join.
  • General Adult Inpatient and outpatient services, Psychogeriatrics, Consult Liaison, Child and Adolescent, Drug and Alcohol and Maternal Mental Health services.
  • We are a teaching hospital with Psychiatric Registrars Training through the Upper Central North Island (UCNI) training scheme.
  • Opportunities for research and teaching roles through our clinical campus and close links with Auckland University.
  • Opportunities for involvement in service development and clinical leadership.

We currently have the following roles available with the Bay of Plenty services:

  • 0.6FTE in Perinatal Maternal Mental Health
  • 1.0FTE in Whakatane with both our Community Mental Health and Addictions multidisciplinary clinical team and the Acute Inpatient unit at Whakatane Hospital.
  • 0.4FTE in Tauranga Mental Health Services for Older People
  • 1.0FTE in Tauranga Community Acute Care Team
  • 0.6FTE in Child and Adolescent
  • There is also availability to support with Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)

We are happy to accept applications from candidates looking for permanent, part-time opportunities or those that would be happy to combine FTE between two services.

About You

We are seeking individuals that are:

  • Vocationally Registered Psychiatrists with The Medical Council of NZ or are eligible for this.
  • Fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential.
  • A desire to work collaboratively to improve the outcomes for our community, while supporting and educating others to do so too.
