About the Role
Are you interested in joining the enthusiastic team in our Emergency Department? Would you like to improve outcomes in the North, which serves a high Maori, high needs population, all whilst living in an area that is rich in culture and heritage and boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of New Zealand?
Whangarei Hospital is the major referral hospital for the Northland region of New Zealand, with a direct catchment of 170,000. The Emergency Department provides emergency services for the entire district across Whangarei Hospital as well as our three regional hospitals in Kaitaia, Dargaville and the Bay of Islands.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has 49,000 attendances per year of which 25% are paediatric. The department is currently led by 21 SMOs and is accredited with ACEM for 24 months Advanced Training and Paediatric Logbook Training and has a successful training programme for both Part 1 and Part 2 Trainees.

About you
To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in an Emergency Medicine Vocational scope of practice.
If you are currently overseas / not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration.
