About the Role
As Clinical Equity Advisor, you will provide clinical and equity leadership to advance Maori health outcomes at Te Whatu Ora Waikato, with a focus on enhanced access for patients with high equity and clinical needs. The role delivers clinical advisory support to equity initiatives, including the Enhanced Hauora Access Team, applying senior clinical expertise to strengthen quality, safety, and equity of services for whanau.

About the Team/Service
The Enhanced Hauora Access Team is committed to radically improving access to healthcare and being the bridge that connects whanau to equitable health outcomes. Guided by kaupapa Maori values, we work alongside whanau and clinical teams to remove barriers, champion equity, and support meaningful engagement within the health system, building a seamless pathway between the hospital and primary healthcare.
We are dedicated to embedding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our everyday practice upholding tino rangatiratanga, fostering partnership, ensuring active protection, enabling equitable health outcomes, and supporting whanau to access care that honours their mana and aspirations.
About You
You will bring proven Maori health leadership, team leadership, and a commitment to evidence-based clinical practice, alongside a detailed understanding of healthcare delivery, effective and safe communication, and the ability to navigate complex social and political health system environments.
In addition, youll need:
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- A detailed knowledge of how healthcare is delivered and supported, and using sound management constructs.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and safely
