About Ashbury Heights Village + Care Centre
Ashbury Heights Village opened in January 2025 and will set the standard for premium retirement living in Maunu, a charming suburb in the southwest of Whangarei. Our new generation lifestyle village will offer breathtaking views and incorporate the latest innovations in healthcare and technology. In addition to our care facility, there will be a specialised dementia centre built.

About the Role – Mo te Turanga
This full-time role assists the Diversional Therapist in creating and running engaging activities for our Care Centre residents, promoting their fitness, nutrition, and social participation. You’ll help keep our residents active, engaged, and connected. Responsibilities include supporting outings and events, maintaining resident health through physical therapy under supervision, recording care notes, providing exercises to enhance mobility, and assisting with supportive devices. Every day brings variety and the chance to make a real difference!
- Hours: Full-time, five days a week Tuesday to Saturday 8am to 4.30 pm. 40 hours a week – 20/20 split between Activities Support and Physio Assistant work.

About You – Nga Korero Mou
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Creative, interactive, and able to relate well to others.
- Vibrant and engaging personality
- Organised, motivated, and confident leading groups or classes.
- Skilled with MS Office and comfortable using technology.
- Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Holder of a current, clean full NZ driver’s licence (essential). A passenger endorsement and/or first aid certificate is preferred, but training can be provided.
- Dementia training and prior experience working in a hospital or rest home care facility is an advantage
- Physiological knowledge including health promotion
- Physio Assistant training or an equivalent qualification preferred

Bonus skills: Experience or training in physical education, fitness, or nutrition is an advantage (but not essential). Creativity and imagination are key!
Perhaps you have a background in physical education, nutrition, or tourism? Fantastic! Experience in a similar role is helpful but not required – we’ll support the right person to learn and grow.
