Description

THE ROLE

Rescare is seeking a motivated and compassionate Service Coordinator to join our growing team in the Wellington/Lower Hutt region. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Service Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day operational management of our disability support services. You will oversee a team of support workers, coordinate individualised support plans, liaise with funded agencies, whānau, and health professionals, and ensure service delivery meets regulatory and quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and genuine care for the people we support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate day-to-day service delivery across caseloads
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Support Workers
  • Develop, review, and implement individual support and care plans
  • Manage staff rostering, leave, and scheduling to ensure continuity of care
  • Liaise with Whaikaha, ACC, MoH, and other funding bodies
  • Maintain accurate documentation aligned with NZS 8134:2021
  • Support incident reporting, risk management, and quality improvement
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the people we support and their whānau
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and compliance activities
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of support staff
  • Champion the organisation’s values and person-centred practice
  • Contribute to policy development and continuous service improvement

ABOUT YOU — ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the New Zealand disability support sector
  • Demonstrated staff supervision or team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Ngā Paerewa NZS 8134:2021 and relevant NZ legislation and Familiarity with Enabling Good Lives (EGL) principles and person-centred practice
  • Proven ability to manage support plans, documentation, and compliance
  • Sound understanding of funded disability services (ACC, MSD)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

  • NZ Level 4+ qualification in Health & Wellbeing or Social Services
  • Experience with positive behaviour support (PBS) or complex needs
  • Familiarity with residential support settings
  • Experience with rostering systems and digital care documentation
  • Understanding of tikanga Māori and culturally responsive practice
  • Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
