About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for Meade Clinical Centre (MCC) Eye Clinic, you will work in partnership with the Charge Nurse Manager to provide strong clinical leadership and support a high-quality, patient-centred ophthalmology service.

This role plays a key part in ensuring a positive experience for patients attending the Eye Clinic. You will collaborate closely with the wider outpatient team, including medical staff, reception, and booking teams, to support efficient service delivery and achievement of planned care volumes.

You will also provide direct patient care and contribute to the professional development of the nursing team, supporting and enhancing nursing practice in ophthalmic conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse to combine clinical expertise with leadership in a dynamic outpatient setting.

About the Team/Service

Eye clinic is located within the MCC outpatient facility and is the largest of our clinics delivering 120 200 appointments per day. Our team of ophthalmologists are very supportive of our experienced nursing team and the development of the CNS role for the ophthalmology service.

About you

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide patient and whanau-centred care that reflects our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, quality improvement, and patient safety.

You will have attained, or be working towards, a postgraduate nursing qualification, consistent with the requirements of a senior nursing role.

Key requirements for this role include:

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and apply sound clinical decision-making skills;
  • Proven leadership capabilities with effective time-management skills;
  • Advanced communication skills, and contribute to a positive team culture;
  • Sound nursing knowledge and clinical experience in ophthalmology;
  • A minimum of three years experience working in a New Zealand hospital or acute care setting.
