Te Whare Maiangiangi our Pakeke (Adult) Inpatient Acute Mental Health Unit at Tauranga Hospital, is currently undergoing an exciting transformation. The ward is expanding its services and evolving the way we work, creating a dynamic environment where innovative and equity-based approaches to mental health care, recovery and Maori health are at the forefront.

About the Role
We are seeking a registered nurse with a passion for mental health and a commitment to holistic, person and whanau-centred care.
Dynamic, evolving environment Join us as we expand Te Whare Maiangiangi and transform the way we deliver care. Be part of creating new models of practice and collaborative ways of thinking.
Kaupapa Maori nursing care Apply Te Ao Maori concepts and practices in clinical care, promoting culturally safe recovery pathways for tangata whaiora.
Person-centred care Support pakeke (adults) experiencing psychological distress by completing mental state assessments, establishing therapeutic engagement, applying trauma-informed, least restrictive approaches and managing medication and physical health.
Multidisciplinary teamwork Work alongside nurses, kaupapa Maori nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, medical house officers, Pou Kokiri (cultural advisors) and our consumer peer support lived experience (CPSLE) partners.
Professional Growth opportunities for post graduate study, mentoring, clinical supervision and ongoing development, with a strong focus on wellbeing, wairuatanga and workforce capability

We are looking for a registered nurse who:
Has a passion for mental health nursing and a making meaningful difference for tangata whaiora and whanau Demonstrates respect and advocates for a te Ao Maori worldview, cultural safety, and equitable practice Actively upholds the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in clinical care Communicates effectively and contributes positively to the multidisciplinary team Is motivated to improve health outcomes and enhance the wellbeing of Maori and all tangata whaiora
