About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Registered Nurse to join our Hyperacute Stroke Neurology Unit on a fixedterm contract to cover parental leave. In this specialised area, you will provide highquality, evidenceinformed nursing care to patients experiencing acute neurological events, including stroke, seizures, and other complex neurological conditions.
Youll carry out comprehensive nursing assessments, identify changing health needs, plan and implement care, and evaluate outcomes in partnership with patients and their whanau. You will use clinical tools such as TrendCare, maintain accurate documentation, and support safe staffing and patient flow by contributing to Variance Response Management (VRM).
As part of the nursing team, youll also play a key role in supporting students, graduates and new staff, helping to foster a learningrich and supportive environment.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Hyperacute Stroke Neurology Unit at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is a fastpaced, highly skilled clinical area where early intervention and coordinated multidisciplinary care are essential.
Youll be joining a team of experienced nurses, neurologists, allied health professionals and support staff who work collectively to deliver safe, timely and culturally responsive care. The team embraces the values of Te Mauri o Rongo - ensuring a supportive, respectful and collaborative environment for both patients and staff.

About you
Youre a motivated, reflective and patientfocused nurse who thrives in an acute clinical setting. You bring strong criticalthinking skills and a commitment to delivering highquality, personcentred care.
You will have:
- Current NZ Nursing Council registration and APC
- Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
- Strong assessment, communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment
- A commitment to evidencebased practice and safe documentation
Desired:
- A PDRP portfolio
- At least two years of clinical experience
- An interest in developing neurological nursing expertise
You bring professionalism, resilience, cultural safety and a genuine desire to support patients and whanau during critical health events.
