About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Urology is an advanced nursing practice role within Cancer Blood Services at the Jim Carney Cancer Treatment Centre. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical nursing care and coordination for a defined patient/turoro/tangata whai ora population across both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role has a strong focus on Faster Cancer Treatment, supporting the achievement and maintenance of Ministry of Health targets while ensuring timely, highquality, personcentred care.

As a clinical leader in your specialty, you will utilise advanced assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and indepth clinical knowledge to manage patients with complex and highpriority needs. You will coordinate care across the health continuum, working closely with inpatient teams, primary care, and community services to support seamless navigation of services for patients and their whanau. In this role, you will also provide expert advice and support to healthcare professionals, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and help deliver equitable outcomes that enhance patient experience, safety, and access to care.

About the Team/Service/ Location

This team is due to expand with the recent increase in funding for cancer treatments. We provide SACT for those in Te Tai Tokerau for both medical oncology and Haematology. With the new Radiation oncology build due to open in 2026, there will be complete cancer care provided in Te Tai Tokerau Great news for our patients!

About you

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you would have an ability to develop productive and positive relationships, lead and facilitate change and be able to educate and coach staff.

New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate (APC) Cytotoxic registered Post graduate tertiary qualification (post graduate certificate/diploma). PDRP at Expert Level Minimum of 5 years recent experience in Oncology/Urology nursing Management, leadership, and clinical teaching skills
