About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Registered Nurse to join the Surgery Anaesthesia Directorate as Charge Nurse Manager of Ward M08, a 21-bed tertiary Neurosurgical Ward at Waikato Hospital.
This is a senior leadership role providing clinical and operational oversight of a complex inpatient service, while contributing to hospital-wide patient flow, quality, safety, and service performance.
As a member of the Surgery Anaesthesia leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality care, supporting workforce development, and driving continuous improvement within a dynamic tertiary environment.
In this position, you will provide visible and effective leadership to a skilled nursing team and will be responsible for:
- Leading inpatient care delivery and supporting effective patient flow
- Providing operational oversight of the ward, including staffing, resources, and daily coordination
- Managing incidents, risks, and quality improvement initiatives
- Leading and contributing to service improvement and change projects
- Supporting and developing staff to deliver excellent, patient-centred care
- Collaborating with medical, allied health, and wider hospital services to optimise outcomes

About you
You are an experienced nurse leader who brings a strong clinical background and a collaborative leadership style. You will have:
- A minimum of 5 years nursing experience in a tertiary hospital setting
- A relevant postgraduate qualification
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading change and improvement initiatives
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
- A clear patient-centred focus with sound operational judgement
- The ability to lead effectively within a complex, fast-paced clinical environment
