About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our rural health team on the beautiful West Coast. This is a rewarding and diverse role where you will utilise your nursing expertise, critical thinking, and judgement to provide safe, person- and whanau-centred care across a wide range of medical and surgical cases.

As part of a small but highly skilled team, you will practise both independently and collaboratively, supporting patients and their families through complex health journeys while role-modelling excellence in rural nursing care.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work across a variety of clinical contexts in rural practice.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing assessments, implement and evaluate care plans, and deliver high-quality evidence-based interventions.
  • Support and guide Enrolled Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and others in the delivery of care.
  • Contribute to service development and integration of care, aligned with Te Whatu Ora West Coast's model of care.
  • Ensure professional, ethical, and culturally safe practice, with a strong commitment to achieving equity of outcomes for Maori and Pacific peoples.

About you

Essential:

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with current Annual Practising Certificate (no conditions preventing fulfilment of the role).
  • Demonstrated ability to work within scope of practice, applying evidence-based knowledge and clinical judgement.
  • Completion of, or commitment to undertake, cultural competency training.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Full, clean NZ driver's licence (manual transmission capable).
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite).
  • Ability and confidence to work with children.

Desirable:

  • Previous medical, surgical and/ or rehabilitation nursing experience. Current Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio.
