About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent leadership role responsible for leading the Quality Coordinator team and supporting the delivery of quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management activities across Health New Zealand.
You will provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the team while partnering with clinical services, consumers, whanau, and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement. The role oversees key quality and safety systems, including incident and complaint management, adverse event reviews, compliance and accreditation activities, clinical governance reporting, and organisational risk management.
You will play a key role in building team capability, promoting a culture of learning and improvement, and supporting safe, equitable, and high-quality care for our communities.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team of highly experienced clinical and non-clinical staff provide support for the organisation in all matters relating to quality and risk. This includes, but is not limited to conflict resolutions, clinical reviews in adverse events, risk mitigation strategies and clinical governance. We are a fun and social team that support not only the organisation, but also each other.

About you
You are an experienced healthcare quality and risk professional with strong knowledge of clinical governance, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements. You are proactive, solutions-focused, and skilled at building effective relationships, leading quality initiatives, supporting compliance, and driving continuous improvement across healthcare services.
Key Skills and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification in healthcare administration or equivalent experience. Postgraduate qualification in quality, risk management, health management, governance, or a related field (Masters level preferred), or equivalent experience. Minimum of five years' experience in a healthcare organisation working in quality and risk management. Proven knowledge of clinical and non-clinical quality and risk management principles and practices. Demonstrated experience in adverse event, incident, and complaint investigation and management. Strong understanding of compliance, certification, accreditation, and auditing systems and processes. Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and protocols. Sound knowledge of clinical governance frameworks and quality improvement methodologies. Understanding of relevant legislation, including health and safety requirements and health sector standards. Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to influence, collaborate, and build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
