We're looking for a practical Health and Safety Advisor who loves the outdoors and believes great safety starts with great relationships. This role supports our mountain teams to work safely, confidently, and collaboratively in a fast-moving alpine environment.
About the role
This role is all about ensuring our people go home safe every day, while supporting a positive and practical health, safety, and wellbeing culture across our operations.
You'll be hands-on in:
- Promoting and sharing best-practice approaches to health, safety, and wellbeing
- Supporting continuous improvement of our health and safety management system
- Encouraging strong crew engagement and participation in health and safety
- Reviewing and investigating incidents and supporting our incident reporting system
- Providing HSW advise to senior management.
During winter, you'll spend most of your time on mountain, supporting teams operating at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, and Mt Hutt. Over summer, you'll contribute to safe site management for summer capital works projects, where you'll support contractor management and site safety.
This is a fixed-term role from April to April, based in Queenstown, covering extended leave.
About you
You'll be passionate about health and safety and thrive in outdoor, high energy environments. You enjoy working alongside people and bringing safety to life in a practical, down-to-earth way. Your approachable and collaborative style would help you build strong relationships quicky to positively influence a supportive and engaged safety culture across the business.
You'll ideally bring:
- An approachable manner and the ability to build trust and strong working relationships at all levels (essential)
- A genuine interest in outdoor recreation or the snowsports industry
- Self-motivation and confidence working across multiple sites
- Experience supporting health and safety in high-risk environments (e.g. working at heights, moving machinery, adverse weather)
- Applied knowledge of the NZ Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools
Nice to have (but not essential):
- A relevant qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or degree) and training in incident investigation
- Experience or knowledge of trades, maintenance, or construction environments.
