About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated NZ Registered Pharmacist. This is an opportunity to join a highly engaged pharmacy team with a strong emphasis on clinical service provision and quality, whilst also collaborating with a wide range of teams within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki.
You will also participate in the on-call roster once established in the role. The on-call duties extend from Monday to Friday 5pm to 8am the following morning, or Friday evening to Monday morning.
As a Pharmacist, you are responsible for:
Dispensing and supplying medications in accordance with hospital protocols and national standards Providing clinical pharmacy services, including medicines reconciliation and optimization of treatments Offering professional advice to healthcare teams, patients, and caregivers to promote safe medication use Ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital guidelines for medication management Supporting stock management, including procurement and safe storage of medicines

About the Service
Health New Zealand - Taranaki Pharmacy Service is a collaborative and supportive department who provide safe and effective medication management across both Taranaki Base and Hawera hospitals. We uphold the highest standards in pharmaceutical supply, medicines safety, and clinical services, whilst constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care we deliver. Our staff work collaboratively in many multi-disciplinary teams across medical, nursing, and allied health directorates with a shared focus on ensuring optimal patient-centred care.
Health NZ - Taranaki is also fortunate to have its dedicated eMedication management team who work closely alongside our Pharmacy department to lead medication management in the various data and digital platforms across the hospital.

About you
Relevant experience in hospital pharmacy is desirable, ideally with a focus on clinical pharmacy, however a qualified pharmacist with a passion for hospital pharmacy would also be considered Hold registration with the New Zealand Pharmacy Council and Annual Practicing Certificate or be eligible Excellent communication and teamwork skills Attention to detail and a commitment to medication safety
