The Physiotherapy Service has an exciting opportunity for a NZ registered Physiotherapist to be part of our growing, dynamic Allied Health team on a casual basis.
The position will involve aspects of physiotherapy practice in outpatient, community, and rural settings with opportunities to experience women's health, MSK, respiratory, pain, strength and balance, and community services depending on service need.

About the Role
This position is open to anyone with DHB experience. The primary purpose of this position will be to deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service to all referred patients, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide care in the designated clinical area.
As a casual physiotherapist, you will be informed of where the cover will be needed and expected to pick up a caseload, prioritise it using our national priority criteria and see patients for new assessments or progressions of their programmes. The role is purely clinical so there is no expectation of quality projects or participation in any meetings. You will be utilised in times of needs to provide cover. You will be part of a fun physiotherapy team who are serious about the mahi.
Key responsibilities:
- Effectively prioritise, manage, delegate, and see an appropriate caseload of patients.
- Accurately make decisions about the appropriate physiotherapy care and discharge pathways for the patients that you see.
- Document your clinical encounters in accordance with our documentation standards and log your time in our patient statistics software.
- Demonstrate professional attitude and commitment to the team, practising within your scope of practice and ensuring effective communication occurs at all levels to achieve service objectives.

About the Team/Service
The Physiotherapy service has over one hundred staff including physiotherapists, assistants and administrators that work across the large geographical area of the Waikato region. We have staff based at Waikato Hospital, our secondary hospital in Thames and our three rural hospitals in Tokoroa, Te Kuiti and Taumarunui and across our many community bases in areas such as Morrinsville, Matamata, Cambridge, and Ngaruawahia. Our vision is to provide quality physiotherapy care to promote, encourage and enable health, well-being, and independence for the patients and whanau in the communities we serve. Our mission is to ensure that patients receive excellence of care, that our staff are supported and trained to work and maintain levels of evidence-based practice and that our service is equitable, efficient, and effective in order to meet the needs of our patients and their whanau. About you
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following attributes:
- 5 years of experience in Physiotherapy.
- Confidence in acute settings.
- Physically and mentally strong and able to work under pressure, be flexible and adaptable.
- Proven ability to prioritise effectively and manage your time.
- You are a dynamic team player that prioritises the team, communicates openly, is transparent and takes your share of the caseload and delegates appropriately.
