Assistant Mgr AND Part Time Barista/Cafe Assistant

We established Breadhead in 2018 and provide crusts, coffee and community. We have just expanded The Bakery and have also just opened our second site at The Gallery so it's a very exciting time at Breadhead.

We have two positions available;

FULL TIME Cafe Assistant Manager - The Gallery

This position starts from 3/01/2026 and is full time, Wednesday - Sunday, approximately 38 hours. With starts as early as 6:30am and finishes as late as 4:15pm.

This is a small and vibrant spot right beside Toi Tauranga Gallery. Open 7 days. It needs a bright, bubbly and people orientated assistant manager to join the team and work along side 2 others each shift.

Our FOH/Operations Manager joins the team a couple of days a week and takes care of over arching rostering and recruitment across both sites. While this role manages daily breaks, ordering, operations, training and maintains daily standards over 3 - 4 days per week.

Best suited to someone who enjoys working in small teams and roles with variety as this is very much about working together to do all the things seamlessly; make beautiful looking and tasting coffee (yes latte art), serve, heat food, clear and run and do dishes.

Coffee making is a core element of this role so we need someone who has 3 years previous cafe/coffee making experience in environments where a high standard is maintained with beautiful looking and tasting coffees. Competency with weighing dose, consistent grind change, latte art, work flow efficiency and team work in busy environments is a must.

PART TIME Barista/Cafe Assistant - The Bakery

This role starts in the next few weeks and works at The Bakery (though could also work at The Gallery from time to time). This role is Mondays and Saturdays, approximately 16 hours. In the lead up to xmas there would be more hours so flexibility and the ability to pick up extra shifts is advantageous and desirable. There is also the possibility of picking up an additional shift in the New Year.

Coffee making is a core element of this role and we are busy so we need someone who is dynamic and versatile, has 3 years previous coffee making experience and in busy/high volume sites where a high standard is maintained with beautiful looking and tasting coffees. Competency with weighing dose, consistent grind change, latte art, work flow efficiency and team work in busy environments is a must.

Barista/café assistant roles at Breadhead also involve time off the machine on other roles in the FOH team. So we are looking for someone who loves making coffee and is also really happy to turn their hand to till, food or floor roles as needed. This is a real for a coffee loving, people loving, hopso loving human!
