Woodfired Pizza Restaurant Bar Duty Manager / Front of House

Location: Base Woodfired Pizza Montreal, 199 Marshlands road, Christchurch, New Zealand

Base Woodfired Pizza, part of the Base Hospitality Group, serves authentic, hand-crafted woodfired pizzas across Christchurch. Our mission is to make "Christchurch's Pizza" and provide exceptional food and warm hospitality in a lively atmosphere. We’re dedicated to creating memorable dining experiences focused on quality, woodfired perfection, and community connections. We are seeking a Duty Manager / Front of House to lead our vibrant, young team at our new location. You will oversee daily operations, manage inventory, and ensure outstanding customer service. A valid Duty Manager’s certificate is required, but management training will be provided for the right candidate eager to grow and take their next steps in the hospitality industry. Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily front-of-house operations, ensuring efficient service and a welcoming atmosphere. Lead, motivate, and manage the team, providing training and support as needed. Ensure excellent customer service and handle any issues or complaints promptly and professionally. Manage opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and stock management. Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely food service. Maintain health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with food hygiene regulations. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies. Write and maintain weekly rosters. Uphold Base’s commitment to local community engagement. Work with the Operations Manager on implementing training and development programs for staff. Collaborate with the Operations Manager on monitoring and analyzing sales performance to identify growth opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in a front-of-house or duty manager role within the hospitality industry. Previous bar experience in a busy environment. A valid Duty Manager’s certificate is essential. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. A passion for food, particularly pizza, and a genuine love for hospitality. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
