Barista

FLAX & Co. is looking for an awesome, skilled, Barista to join our team 🙂

We are a community Cafe, Bar & Restaurant set in the heart of Preston’s, in an idyllic location overlooking the water. (with free parking🙌). Offering locally roasted, artisan coffee from the team at Switch Espresso Coffee Company who we work closely with to ensure our team are trained and supported to consistently deliver the best coffee.

Ideally the successful candidates will have 2+ years experience as a barista in a busy cafe.

During the day we have a delicious brunch menu and a cabinet full of home made sweet and savoury delights. In the evening we offer a fresh seasonal menu of small & large plates, pizzas & puddings. This sits alongside a premium drinks offering including some interesting New Zealand wines, some classy cocktails, & local craft beers.

We are currently looking to fill two Barista positions. These roles are flexible and will be casual to begin with but would progress to a permanent position.

1. Approx 30hrs per week / flexible, including weekends.
2. 10 to 15hrs per week / flexible, including weekends. (We are closed on Monday.)

Do you have:

• Experience working quickly and efficiently in a busy cafe environment with exceptional coffee skills and knowledge, alongside a willingness to learn and prepare beverages our way.
• Show initiative, prioritise tasks under pressure.
• Proven experience working with a specialty coffee

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, following recipes and working to FLAX & Co. standards
• Ensure consistent flavour and presentation of all beverages
• Provide genuine and friendly customer service which reflects our company ethos
• Stock control and ordering
• Set up and pack down the coffee station
• Take customer orders off our POS
• Be willing to muck in and work as a part of the team, run food or drink if needed and help with cleaning and other tasks as required and as part of close down
• We are looking for people who want to keep learning and improving and who will want to participate in all operational aspects of Flax & Co. to ensure it remains a success.
