Duty Manager for Country Gastro-pub

The Cust Pub is a newly renovated, food-focused country gastro pub, and we’re looking for a confident, honest, hardworking Duty Manager to join our hands-on management team. This is a key leadership role in a 6-day operation, trading from 11am until late, ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, responsibility, and being part of building something special from the ground up.

The Role You will be a senior presence on shift, responsible for:

• Running smooth, well-organized bar and restaurant shifts
• Leading, mentoring, and developing front-of-house staff
• Setting standards and leading by example
• Ensuring full compliance with the Sale & Supply of Alcohol Act at all times
• Supporting the owner and management team with day-to-day operations
• Helping shape a strong, positive, and professional team culture

About You This role will suit someone who:

• Has strong hospitality and leadership experience
• Holds a valid Duty Manager’s Certificate (or can obtain one quickly)
• Can confidently make decisions and handle responsibility well
• Enjoys a hands-on leadership role rather than sitting in an office
• Is honest, reliable, motivated, and team-focused
• Is legally entitled to work in New Zealand and currently live within a reasonable distance to Cust
