Cafe Chef Wanted

Location: Newmarket, Auckland Job type: Full time (minimum 30 hours per week) Remuneration: $26.00–$34.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

Description We are a vibrant local café known for its quality coffee, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a menu that offers classic café favourites alongside fresh, flavourful dishes. With our growing and loyal customer base, we are now seeking a reliable and experienced full-time Chef to join our kitchen team and support our ongoing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of café-style dishes to a consistent, high standard.
• Assist with daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service flow.
• Support menu preparation, food portioning, and basic recipe execution.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment in line with food safety standards.
• Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and help reduce food waste.
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure efficient and timely service.

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant commercial kitchen experience, or a Level 4 cookery qualification (or equivalent) with practical cooking experience.
• Good knowledge of café-style cooking and food preparation techniques.
• Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods while maintaining quality.
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work well in a small team.
• Positive attitude, good communication skills, and strong work ethic.
