He angitūtanga / The opportunity

As Multi-Site Executive Chef, you’ll lead kitchen operations across three kitchens servicing five sites, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality food preparation. The role is a mixture of being on the tools with your team, while also engaging with front of house buffet standards and engagement with the consumer. You’ll lead menu planning based on consumer feedback, stock control, and team development while maintaining compliance with health and food safety standards. Consistency in delivery across 5 locations is going to be key, and a big part of your input into making this exciting role a success. This is a unique opportunity to showcase creativity and leadership in a dynamic environment and make a difference through culinary on our young adults adjusting to the exciting life of independent living. This role is based at the University of canterbury in Chrisstchurch.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities

  • Plan, cost, and control menus to meet customer and contractual requirements.
  • Lead and mentor culinary teams across multiple sites, driving quality, compliance and consistency.
  • Oversee stock management, ordering, and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are met at all times.
  • Prepare, cook, and present meals to exceed customer expectations.

He kōrero mōu / About you

  • NZQA Level 4 Cookery Certificate or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar leadership role with proven expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and OH&S practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
  • Flexible, reliable, and passionate about delivering exceptional food experiences.
  • Great people skills and leadership inspiring the team to always seek continual improvement.
