We’re looking for a passionate and reliable Catering & Event Chef to join our Rolleston-based kitchen. This is a hands-on, event-focused role, ideal for a chef who enjoys preparing food for real moments — weddings, corporate functions, and on-site and off-site events — and seeing it all come together on the day.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute food for events, functions, and catering orders, both on-site and off-site
- Assist with event setup, pack-down, and service execution for buffets, canapés, and plated-style catering
- Prepare fresh menu items including salads, wraps, sandwiches, savoury items, and event components
- Support baking production (savouries, slices, biscuits) as part of a wider catering operation
- Pack, load, and coordinate catering orders to ensure accurate and timely delivery
- Deliver catering orders and event equipment when required (company vehicle provided)
- Work closely with the events and operations team to ensure smooth service flow
- Maintain high standards of food safety, presentation, and kitchen organisation
✅ What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a catering, events, or commercial kitchen environment
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work calmly under event timelines
- Confidence preparing food at scale and executing to plan
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset and great attention to detail
- Full driver’s licence (essential)
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with flexibility to adapt as events evolve
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand. Unfortunately, we are not able to support visa applications for this role.
⏰ Hours & Roster
- Permanent role with 30+ hours per week
- Rostered across 7 days, depending on event and business needs
- Some early starts, evenings, and weekend work will be required, particularly during peak event seasons
