Description
This is a hands-on role for someone who can balance speed, consistency, and creativity, while working in a tight, organised kitchen.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Day-to-day kitchen operations: prep, service, standards, cleanliness, and pace
- Producing an evolving menu that suits the venue, season, and service style
- Ensuring consistency of quality, portioning, and presentation every service
- Maintaining kitchen systems: prep lists, recipes, SOPs, cleaning schedules
- Food safety and compliance: records, audits, HACCP principles, allergens
- Working closely with the Head Chef on events, specials, and service planning
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Chef
- Confident service — calm and sharp
- Strong kitchen organisation: systems, prep flow, ordering, and stock control
- Good understanding of allergens and food safety best practice
- NZ work rights and availability for nights/weekends
Bonus points if you have
- Experience in high-volume casual dining, modern pub food, or share-plate menus
- Event catering experience (functions, tap takeovers, large bookings)
