Our role at Antarctica New Zealand is to support world-leading science and environmental protection in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Scott Base is the hub of New Zealand's activities in Antarctica and each year, we employ seasonal staff to manage base activity and support science in the field.
Mō te mahi | About the role - What you'll be doing
It takes a passionate, diverse, and highly skilled team to run Scott Base. This is your opportunity to join a diverse and motivated team in the world's most dynamic workplace.
The Domestic Team is responsible for cleaning of amenities and domestic duties and operate on a rotating roster working 5-7 days a week.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring all common areas, bathrooms and work areas are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition and are fit for purpose on a daily basis
- Preparation of accommodation areas for occupation and undertaking laundry duties
- Inventory management of cleaning equipment and domestic stores
- Assist with bar service and demonstrate host responsibility with regard to service of alcohol
- Positively contribute to the overall base culture and assist with proactively identifying community needs
- Serve on the Scott Base Fire Crew
This is a 6-month (summer) role from approximately August 2026 to February 2027.

We operate in one of the most remote locations in the globe, so our team needs to work well together, focus on safety and integrate successfully into the small community lifestyle. We're looking for a highly motivated person to join our close-knit, passionate and supportive team.
Skills and Experience Include:
- Proven experience in commercial cleaning or housekeeping roles
- Experience working in a hospitality setting with service of alcohol
- Ability to adhere to rostered tasks in an efficient and effective manner
- Ability to demonstrate a strong customer service focus
- Physical and psychological resilience to meet the demands of this active role
- Current full NZ Class 1 driver's licence and ability to drive a manual vehicle
