He angitūtanga | The Opportunity

As a Cleaning Assistant at Burnham Military Camp, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a clean, hygienic, and welcoming environment across the Defence site. You’ll use a variety of cleaning materials and equipment to ensure buildings, rooms, and surfaces are consistently maintained to high standards. This role requires attention to detail, proactive safety awareness, and a commitment to delivering excellent service. This is a Permanent Part time position.

Ko ō kawenga | Your Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain a variety of surfaces including hard floors, soft floors, fixtures, fittings, windows, and external areas using the appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Prepare rooms for guests by making beds, restocking supplies, and ensuring all areas meet daily cleaning schedule requirements.
  • Operate specialised cleaning equipment such as ride‑on machinery, pressure washers, and steam cleaners as needed.
  • Handle, segregate, transport, and store waste safely, including clinical waste in accordance with site protocols.
  • Follow company cleaning procedures, respond quickly to urgent cleaning needs, support stock distribution, and assist with general duties as required.

  • A reliable team player with experience in a similar cleaning or housekeeping role.
  • Physically fit, hardworking, and comfortable performing active tasks throughout the day.
  • Flexible with a positive attitude and the ability to follow routine instructions and workplace procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional commitment to great service and personal presentation.
  • Able to pass a police clearance and work effectively within a Defence‑aligned environment.
